Transcontinental Capri earns SQF Level 3 certification

Montreal, March 11, 2015 – Transcontinental Capri, a flexible packaging supplier in Clinton, Missouri, USA, is pleased to announce that on March 4 it received Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 3 certification, an audit standard compliant with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) requirements, established by the Safe Quality Food Institute. The aim of this program is to provide consumers an assurance of food safety all the way through the food supply chain by implementing robust and documented food safety control mechanisms.

To earn this certification, holders are bound by contract to implement robust food safety control systems, validate their effectiveness and monitor them on an ongoing basis. The program requires a long implementation process and takes place in stages (desk audit, physical audit, review). Once the SQF code is assigned, an auditor from the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) confirms the implementation of control procedures related to the certification level achieved as well as the accuracy of related documents.

"I am really proud of our people at Transcontinental Capri and their hard work to provide consumers with a quality product that is very safe," said Brian Reid, President of the Printing and Packaging sector of TC Transcontinental. The SQF Level 3 certification confirms to employees, suppliers, customers and the industry that food packaging safety and quality are and will always be essential to TC Transcontinental."
